Peaked Pano

It’s Majestic Marvel Monday! Since Mondays can often be one of the tougher days of the week and for many, it means back to the daily grind, what better way to put a smile on your face than to marvel at His majestic wonders! I absolutely love photography! It is both a creative outlet and passion that brings me joy. So, each Monday, I will post at least one photo of God’s majestic marvels I’ve captured. See and be in awe of His creations and beauty!

For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. -Romans 1:20

Peaked Pano was shot on another frosty Alaskan winter day. And while you can’t tell in this panoramic view, these ginormous mountains were literally right in front of us, with a small lake in between. I always tell people, “you haven’t seen mountains unless you’ve been to Alaska!” These big, beautiful mounds decorate the state with their bold, white caps and if you are blessed to get the chance to visit, one glance will leave you awestruck at how great our Creator is!

Mountain Breath

I absolutely love photography! It is both a creative outlet and passion that brings me joy. So, each Monday, I will post at least one photo of God’s majestic marvels I’ve captured. When I gaze at this image I recently snapped of a peaceful Alaskan mountain landscape enveloped in mist, I picture the ridge letting off some steam with a big breath in and a giant exhale out, thus, the name Mountain Breath. Mountain ranges, I’m sure, have much unpredictability when it comes to weather and storms. And like the storms of life that come and go in our lives, we can take a big breath in, and exhale out, knowing that whatever storms we face, will eventually pass. Even more importantly though—God will stand strong with us, like this immovable mountain. Here, rests this range, knowing all is well. We, too, can do the same, no matter the circumstances.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. -Psalms 121:1-2

This past Saturday, as the temperature dipped in the negatives, and the sun set on the mountains, it was a perfect evening for some winter wonderland photos. I snuck this one by jumping out of the car in the middle of a bridge, when no cars were coming, after witnessing this glowing, magical scene with frosty swans bathing in the icy cold river.

Arctic Looking Glass was another shot I snapped out the passenger window recently, while trucking down an Alaska highway. We had just gotten some freshly fallen snow two days prior and although some began to melt, the mountain tops were piled high, offering a glimpse of what’s to come.

The snow has laid low since our last brief dusting, and we’ve been blessed to enjoy fall a little longer, here in Alaska. Snapping shots of the crisp, colorful leaves has been so much fun lately. Autumn’s Blossom is a collection of some fall favorites I’ve captured this season.

Although we did get some more white fluff falling from the sky Saturday, I’m not ready for winter to settle in quite yet. Having only lived in Alaska for a year now, this early freeze is going to take some getting used to. October always equaled the autumn season where I’m from. Growing up in a milder Pacific Northwest climate, my mind is still stuck on fall, hence, these shots of leafy love. Draped in gold and dressed to the nines, God sure knows how to make a fall fashion statement! It’s hard to believe these tall beauties will soon stand stark naked.

With our first snow of the season this past weekend, it appears that autumn is going to be short lived this year, here in Alaska. And while the snow didn’t stick around this time, the freezing temperatures are telling us it’s about to get really chilly. For the time being, the golden glow of fall still surrounds us, and is sure gorgeous while it lasts! This is a shot I snapped on a family walk down the old dirt road behind our cabin. It makes me think of bulky cable-knit sweaters, wool beanies, and homemade pumpkin spice lattes!

Here in Alaska, fall is in full effect, with the trees all dressed in color. Gold and orange birch leaves pop amongst the ever green spruce trees. Being quite the sight to see, we set out on another family drive this past weekend, when Autumn Pop was snapped.

As the season starts to change and leaves begin to turn bright yellows and oranges, here in Alaska, I was reminded of a photo I captured last year. It was our first fall in the Last Frontier and I was mesmerized by the autumn colors and the deep, blue-green rivers. I didn’t realize that Alaska had beautiful birch trees, until I arrived. This is one of my favorite fall shots. I’m hoping in the next couple of weeks I can snap some more of God’s heavenly creations!

I snapped this Fall Fireweed shot on a day trip back from our favorite Alaskan beach this past weekend. An unexpected pull over to the side of the road for a quick stop, and we happened upon this gorgeous pocket of landscape with leaves beginning to turn and signs of autumn surrounding us.
