Fall’s Fury

It’s Majestic Marvel Monday! Since Mondays can often be one of the tougher days of the week and for many, it means back to the daily grind, what better way to put a smile on your face than to marvel at His majestic wonders! I absolutely love photography! It is both a creative outlet and passion that brings me joy. So, each Monday, I will post at least one photo of God’s majestic marvels I’ve captured. See and be in awe of His creations and beauty!

As the season starts to change and leaves begin to turn bright yellows and oranges, here in Alaska, I was reminded of a photo I captured last year. It was our first fall in the Last Frontier and I was mesmerized by the autumn colors and the deep, blue-green rivers. I didn’t realize that Alaska had beautiful birch trees, until I arrived. This is one of my favorite fall shots. I’m hoping in the next couple of weeks I can snap some more of God’s heavenly creations!

I snapped this Fall Fireweed shot on a day trip back from our favorite Alaskan beach this past weekend. An unexpected pull over to the side of the road for a quick stop, and we happened upon this gorgeous pocket of landscape with leaves beginning to turn and signs of autumn surrounding us.

Today’s Majestic Marvel Monday, is my second Gallery Edition post! As I mentioned previously, in addition to my typical Monday share, I will occasionally showcase some pieces in a collection format. This one is called On the Forest Floor II.

The first go around was so enjoyable, I decided to take another backyard stroll to see what wonders God would surprise me with this time. He never ceases to amaze me. Here’s what I uncovered in our backyard forest:

Shroomy Duo
Leafy Reach
Frilly Forest Fingers
Flourishing Fungi

Sunless Seward Harbor was an image I shot on my birthday a couple of weeks ago, on an impromptu drive to Seward in Alaska. While I love the little harbor town of Seward and have only been there a handful of times, I can’t remember the sun shining even once while there, thus, the name for this pic. Despite the thick cloud cover, the teal water makes this photo pop and God’s creation shine.

I had so much fun capturing these images in our backyard last week. A stroll through our forest of a yard, had me noticing the smallest of God’s wonders-plants, leaves, and fungi I typically wouldn’t take notice of. This beauty would have easily been missed if I hadn’t been present and fully aware. These hidden gems On the Forest floor were a result of my backyard treasure hunt. I’m learning that sometimes it takes opening our eyes a little wider to really see all that He has given us.

We’ve been taking a lot of family day trips lately, here in Alaska. Recently, I’ve been challenging myself to get at least one shot I like from the passenger window as my husband navigates the car down the highway. Mint Chip and Marshmallow Sky was my favorite pic that I snapped on our last excursion. While it was a gloomy summer day, our Creator sure didn’t hide His splendor! Instead, His majesty shone through in the layered lush greenery and gray and white puffs that graced the afternoon sky.

This week’s mountain shots are decorated with some Fireweed Flair. This is the first time since being in Alaska (not quite a year now), that I got to see these beautiful wildflowers dressing the hillsides throughout the landscape. While these shots only show a few of these tall, fuscia-colored flowers that thrive in mountain meadows, they sure brightened up these pics!

Powdered Sugar Summit, was another image I snapped out of the passenger seat window as my husband drove on a recent to Anchorage, Alaska. The mountaintops, with its sprinkling of snow, remind me of a dusting of powdered sugar on a delicious baked good.

Icy Blue and In Between

Today’s shots, Icy Blue and In Between, were snapped on a trip back from Anchorage, Alaska, last week. We hadn’t planned on finding this gem of a glacier. Instead, God placed it in our path after a rather trying day at a medical appointment. Our impromptu drive down a side road led us to this beautiful, blue alpine glacial mass. After a hope-shattering meeting with an icy-cold doctor, God amazed us with his beauty and turned our day around.

Today’s pic, Dew Drop Daisy, was an unexpected shot I snapped after a quick pull over to the side of the road while driving into town. It was a cloudy, gray-kind of day, yet this capture was another example of God’s beauty that surrounds us-even when we aren’t looking. We may just have to open our eyes a little wider and be intentional about seeing the blessings that He provides us with.
