Autumn Misty Mountains

I recently introduced a new element to my blog: Majestic Marvel Monday. Since Mondays can often be one of the tougher days of the week and for many, it means back to the daily grind, what better way to put a smile on your face than to marvel at His majestic wonders! I absolutely love photography! It is both a creative outlet and passion that brings me joy. So, each Monday, I will post at least one photo of God’s majestic marvels I’ve captured. See and be in awe of His creations and beauty! And, as an added bonus, I get to share a little bit of Alaska with y’all.

Today’s photo, Autumn Misty Mountains, was taken in September of last year, just after we landed in Alaska. It was cold, but hadn’t quite hit freezing temperatures yet.

Today’s photo, Peek-a-boo Shine, was shot last week, in the woods behind our cabin in Alaska. The sun was beginning to go down and I caught it playing Peek-a-boo in the snow-covered trees.

Alive with the Moon

Alone in the night
Awake, bushy-tailed and bright

My mind won’t switch off
Ideas come, flooding my thoughts

Eyes don't want to close
Time, my body thinks it knows

But, it's all haywire
Revved up and ready to fire

The cycle goes round
continuing to be wound

Unable to sleep
at the time others snooze deep

Running ahead at full speed
meanwhile, I wake up fatigued

It's backwards, you see
Can't go to sleep until 3

The rhythm it's whacked
It has got my days all jacked

I sleep until noon
but come alive with the moon

*I wrote this poem last week when I couldn't sleep. Although, I haven't been officially diagnosed, I'm certain I've had a sleep disorder since I was a teenager, around the time I experienced the trauma of my dad leaving. My circadian rhythm has been off for as long as I can remember and no matter how hard I try to force myself to change my sleep patterns, it's a constant battle. I come alive with the moon and am dragging until early afternoon the following day.

Lacy Limbs

I recently introduced a new element to my blog: Majestic Marvel Monday. Today’s photo, Lacy Limbs, was shot on a family walk here in Alaska. As the sun shone brightly that day, I looked up into the cerulean sky and saw these frosty limbs outstretched, creating a lacy pattern above.

Love Written In the Trees

I know it’s not Majestic Marvel Monday, but this is one of my favorite pictures I’ve captured this year and it seems fitting. Perhaps, it’s the simplicity of the photo. Perhaps, it’s the shear reminder of His love. His beauty and love are everywhere. It’s even written in the trees. Don’t forget to open your eyes today and everyday, for that matter. What gifts of beauty has He blessed you with? Take a peek around. And remember, His love never changes. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Alpenglow Hush

I recently introduced a new element to my blog: Majestic Marvel Monday. Today’s photo, Alpenglow Hush, was shot last week, after I casually peaked out my window and noticed the pink glow of the sunset. Realizing I only had minutes to capture this glimmer over the peaks, I yanked on my snow boots, threw on my jacket, ran out the door and began snapping.

Today’s photo, Wintry Reach, was taken this afternoon. It was a whole 10 degrees out, but I couldn’t complain snapping this gorgeous, Alaskan blue sky and sun peaking through the trees.

Alaskan Snowy Glow

Today’s photo, Alaskan Snowy Glow, is another one I snapped on a family walk behind our home in Alaska. Not sure what causes the pink glow in Alaska during the winter, but I’ve witnessed this quite a few times already. The rosy glow in the sky is both beautiful and incredible to see!
