It's Majestic Marvel Monday! Since Mondays can often be one of the tougher days of the week and for many, it means back to the daily grind, what better way to put a smile on your face than to marvel at His majestic wonders! I absolutely love photography! It is both a creative outlet and passion that brings me joy. So, each Monday, I will post at least one photo of God’s majestic marvels I’ve captured. When I look at God’s beautiful creation I am reminded that, since He is powerful enough to do that, I can trust Him with my life as well.

Grazing on Goodness

Grazing on Goodness, was an image I snapped in Colorado a few years back. It’s one of my favorite horse shots and reminded me of one I recently shared.

When I posted that photo a few weeks ago, a brother in Christ, Alan, (you can check out his blog here) made an excellent connection between these breathtaking creatures and our walk as Christians. He asked me “do we graze in His presence as we go through our day?” Like horses graze in the pasture throughout the day, we too, should graze in God’s presence. It’s not enough to get just one helping of Him in the morning or evening. We must turn our eyes towards Him and remain in His presence all day long, so that He can sustain us.

Heading back into the valley after a late afternoon drive, God surprised us with a beautiful painted sky. Taken on a whim from the passenger seat car, this Spring Streaked Sunset, reminded me that God is ever-present, abounding with blessings, even on the toughest of days.

Sometimes it’s hard to remember, after a super rough day, that the evening doesn’t have to end poorly too, or that what happened today will continue into tomorrow. Our day can still have a lovely ending. And, it can begin anew at any moment.

Sunsets are proof that no matter what happens every day can end beautifully

Bluebird Glimmer was captured as the sun began to set behind the mountains in Anchorage at about 9pm, casting a shimmer on the water. We’ve turned a corner and our days are getting longer with each spring day that passes. Soon, it will be midnight before the sun sets. It’s a refreshing shift, after a long, frigid winter and reminds me that each season brings change and its own blessings. The seasons will always change, and so will the seasons in our lives. So, if you have been weary, enduring a long, dark season in your life, have Hope, and remember that God is in control. In His due time, your season will change too!

“The seasons change and you change, but the Lord abides evermore the same, and the streams of His love are as deep, as broad and as full as ever.” — Charles H. Spurgeon

An animal lover, I am naturally drawn to God’s incredible creatures. I find myself intrigued by their beauty and their interesting personalities. They are one of my favorite subjects to capture. As beautiful as those snowy peaks are, when they pose obstacles in your life, they aren’t pretty. Maybe you are facing a mountain or two in your life right now and you can’t see any way around them. Those mountains appear so mighty and immovable. But what if your eyes aren’t supposed to be on those obstacles? What if those peaks are there for a higher purpose? What if they are there to help you shift your focus onto the “mountain mover”?

On Sunday, we took a short day trip. Strolling along the icy beach, I was lulled by the rolling waves. The artist in me began noticing the beauty in the simple-the thick sea foam with its perfect curves, and the patterns on the sand after each lapping wave was pulled back out into that vast ocean. It wasn’t the beautiful mountains off in the distance that caught my attention this time. Grabbing my camera, I snapped these minimalistic Sea Foam Simplicity shots.

Harbor Blessings

I was sinking down into that dark pit of depression this past weekend, but God had plans to bring me hope. One of the tools I’ve learned over the years to help combat falling deeper into this muck and mire is to change my environment. So, on Saturday, I mustered up that last bit of motivation I had to get out the door, and we headed for the beach.

Alaskan beaches aren’t like the typical beach. When we got there, the arctic wind was blowing, making it brutally cold and my mood dropped even further. We had driven an hour and a half for this and I was crushed, yet God blessed us!

What I thought was going to be a very quick, frigid trip, turned into a fun-filled afternoon that I had not expected. The wind died down a short while later and the weather became tolerable. We were headed across the street to check out the harbor, when our daughter spotted something in the water. Sure enough, we saw several sea otters swimming and splashing amongst the moored boats.

This fella was lazily lounging on the boat dock and did not seem to mind the company. Another was swimming on her back holding her baby. A few others were hamming it up, diving down, then bobbing to the surface and munching on mollusks. It was definitely the highlight of our trip and brought me a little piece of joy and some smiles I so desperately needed. His hope was displayed in His playful creation that was so beautiful to watch. God never ceases to amaze me just when I need it most. Below are a couple of those furry fellas that put on a show for us.

Itching to explore and find new places to shoot, we took a road less travelled this past Saturday. Now that the weather is warming up, back roads that have been covered in snow for months, have begun to melt, making travel easier. Coming upon this incredible overlook, I was able to capture Bear Mountain Pano. This hidden gem on the first day of spring was a spectacular find. As the thaw continues, I can’t wait to be given more access to God’s incredible creation so I can share fresh shots of spring with you.

It was so refreshing to get out into the cool, crisp air this weekend. It had warmed up quite a bit and was a whole 42 degrees. The snow was beginning to melt and we were blessed with sunshine and beautiful blue skies. Signs of spring and new hope were among us. It wasn’t difficult to snap some gorgeous shots of God’s incredible creation. Multi-Peak Pano was one of those that I was able to capture this past Saturday.
